Great burgers and fries. Fast service and love the environment inside. The only thing I'm not very happy with is the prices. For your typical burger eater the price may not seem that bad for you but there's other places that can deliver a better burger for the same price. I would recommend for the restaurant to lower the prices but other then that I love the food!

Very impressive! First time at Bagger Dave's ...and won't be the last. We liked the local beer selections and the food choices. I built my burger from the custom order sheet. It was cooked just right and tasted great. My partner had a turkey burger that was so moist and full of flavor. We also had loaded fries with toppings of my choice. The staff was fun, helpful and attentive. Our server even remade the loaded fries because of an ordering error that was my fault! I'll be back. Soon.

After a 6-hour drive from Pittsburgh, this place was great for a Bells Two-Hearted Ale on draft and a veggie burger with excellent French fries. You can replace any regular burger with a veggie burger. April, the bartender, was very friendly. I had a very pleasant experience at this place.

Overpriced 8.50 for sandwich without fries or side. They changed it up used to come with a side. Won't be back to expensive

Love the Fiery Bleu Buffalo Bugger, the hand cut fries, and craft beers! If you love burgers give Bagger Dave's a try.

EXCELLENT SERVICE AND EXCELLENT FOOD!!! If you're from out-town or even from the area...Cascade Bagger Dave's is a MUST!!! Even if you don't have time to sit down and eat, you can order carry-out :)

Nice friendly place, with great Gluten Free and regular food and beer !! I highly recommend the Gluten Free Vandermill Hard Cider, absolutely delicious !!! Would definitely return if in the area again.

I am a harsh reviewer when it comes to the food service because I worked there. First the food is not worth bragging about. Frankly even my 9 and 12 year old would rather have gone to a place that rhymes with Bed Bobbin instead. You get two small patties to equal one of any other good burger place. The create a burger is way over priced. If I build the train wreck it costs about 3 to 5 dollars more. Heck it costs more to build a lesser version of the train wreck. In my opinion they need to deliver on the LEGENDARY instead of being ordinary.

Food was very good. Atmosphere is always great. Took a little while to get our drinks and we were sat in the bar area. Overall a great burger and experience.

Worst burger in GR. Total garbage. How can this be a place that specializes in burgers yet can't cook a burger ???!!! Dry, no flavor, overpriced garbage. My buddy nick loves it, but he would eat paste

Been here twice with my kids. My kids love the model train that runs around the restaurant. The service is hit or miss, but I enjoyed the burger I had. A bit on the pricey side for what you get.

Just moved into the GR area...was not familiar with this restaurant so we gave it a try. Service was great, we were seated quickly and where we asked to be seated. Server and management staff were very friendly and helpful. The concept here is a little overwhelming St first, but I opted for one of their 'famous burgers'. I used the little card to fill out my info as suggested. However, they don't offer burgers rare or medium rare, which is highly disappointing for me. The burger meat itself obviously had no seasoning, no salt, no pepper. Without the toppings it was flavorless. The fries also had no seasoning. They were just saturated in oil, no salt. Very bland. The only thing they was really good was the twisted mac my son ordered and I finished off for him. That was quite tasty. Neat place, but the staple items were very bland. We will not be back. There are several other places I'd rather get a burger.

Bagger Dave's is solid. I struggle because there are so many great burger places popping up (Five Guys, Tom and Eddies, Smashbuger) ... but Bagger Dave's is doing some things differently that I like. First off - their burgers are quite good. They aren't amazing, but they are good. I had a grilled cheese the second time and really enjoyed that! I love that they give you the half sweet potato chips half fries thing. Its a great idea and more fun that way. Their shakes are yummy! I've never been completely in love with Bagger Daves, but I was shocked when I saw the horrible reviews for it! I've been twice now and would definitely go back. Go give it a try and decide for yourself. I can't promise you will go running back, but I can promise you won't be angry you at least tried it!

Unfortunately this place was not as good as I was lead to believe. The burger I ordered was very bland, and nothing special. The fries tasted like they were made in old oil and were just warmer than room temperature. Hit the nearest drive-thru for better food.

I've been to this restaurant twice now. About a month after they opened and then again this week. The first time I went, I was very underwhelmed with the food. It was just "ok". I thought maybe it was opening jitters so I waited awhile to try it again and then give my review. Fast forward to this week. I decided to get them another try. I ordered the "Bacon BBQ Burger" with the "legendary Chipotle BBQ sauce" and an order of the "Sweet potato chips and potato fries". To start, being that this is a burger joint why they can't cook a burger is beyond me. The beef had absolutely NO taste, NO seasoning, NADA. It almost seemed as though the beef was the frozen cheap stuff you would buy at a discount grocery store. I was surprised when the waitress said they cook their burgers to well done. You might as well eat a hockey puck. The sauce was ok, but defiantly not legendary. Plus, there wasn't enough of it to mask the blandness of the beef. The best part of the meal were the Sweet potato chips. They were very good. Also, I thought the service was really good. I was surprised when I had heard that they opened another store in Grandville. They must be doing alright but the Kraft store won't get anymore of my business. I might try the new one but I would almost rather hit "Red Robin". Its a larger chain but they can make a burger better than "Bagger Dave's."

I like the burgers quite a bit and the prices are reasonable. I've been there several times with my Grandson and the quality of the food is consistent. The service has been a little less consistent. I'll have a great server on one visit where they are very attentive (even on a busy night) and other times I've been there, I get a server who looks like they're ready to go home. (the reason for 3 stars instead of 4) My Grandson loves the place because of the train. I like that it is kid friendly. The burgers aren't your 3 inch burgers, but that's why I like them. I don't need that much beef in my stomach. You can spice up your burger or keep it simple... that's the beauty of this place. Oh and the sweet potato chips are better than the fries

By some unlucky coincidence I have now eaten at Bagger Dave's on 3 occasions. I have been sorely disappointed by the food each time. I started off this marathon with their Michigan Meltdown (grilled cheese) with bacon. It was edible simply b/c...well it's toasted cheese on bread, what's there to mess up? But it was nothing special and was doused in an unnatural amount of chopped onions. Next on the list was their Egg Sandwich and Turkey Black Bean Chili. The egg sandwich was so disgustingly mushy and slimy I ended up pretty much just nibbling the bacon off the sandwich; although not a wholly rare thing for me to do...I didn't go out to lunch just to eat bacon. The chili was less than mediocre and room temp. Now, most egregious of all the other failures...when on my third visit I ordered a burger w/ some sundry accoutrement, the fried egg was cooked over hard! I was informed that this was the way it is supposed to be served. Wha? Huh? No... who would want a nasty chalky hardened egg yolk on their burger?? The egg's entire purpose is for the deliciously runny yolk to spill seductively all over your burger into a fantastic, unhealthy mess. Nothing else about this burger was redeeming. And if you hadn't guessed it by now...this meal also ended in some bacon nibbling. Good ambiance and beer selection.

This was our first ever visit to a Bagger Dave's and it left a good impression. After riding the motorcycle for an hour, we needed a break. Even though it looked busy, we got seated right away in a booth. We didn't know how the ordering went for the custom burgers so our waitress explained everything. We got 2 custom burgers with the mix n' match fries and sweet potato combo. Everything was very good. I had a small turkey burger and with all of the spices and toppings you couldn't even tell you were eating a healthier protein. The sweet potato chips were nice and crispy and when paired with the cinnamon honey dipping sauce, it was like a dessert. The fries weren't crispy enough for my husband's liking, but I still liked them. We will be going to the Bagger Dave's closer to our house to see if everything is the same, but so far so good.

I had so much hope for Bagger Dave's. My s.o. and I couldn't wait to try it, but unfortunately, our hopes were thoroughly dashed as soon as our food was delivered to our table. We were able to forgive Dave's it's barely-above-room-temp fries, and even the fact that our server kept having to return to inform us that they were "out of" half of their beer selection. We were there on an off night (Tuesday) and thought maybe it was the reason for things being so sub-par. Then our burgers came. We could not get past the flimsy, utterly tasteless, barely-warm burgers. The patties themselves were reminiscent of the frozen, prepackaged fare fed to me at my grade-school cafeteria and were not at all juicy, or flavorful. The buns were utterly unremarkable. The only thing that made these sandwiches barely edible were the toppings. We left feeling completely unsatisfied.

Unlike other reviewers, we had a great experience for our first time here. Though the waiting area was packed, our party of five only waited 10-15 minutes for a table. My son (age 3) loved the train chugging along the ceiling-height track; it distracted him from the wait and entertained him while we ate. The menu vs. the paper "order" page was a little confusing at first, but we got our questions answered easily. Fries are not included with burgers--you choose a single or double order. (Single will serve two, in my opinion.) Our food came out much quicker than I was expecting, and all was cooked as ordered. Fries were HOT. Honey wheat buns were great! I love that they have a gluten-free menu, too. Kids' menu options are somewhat limited and a little pricier than I like to pay for a meal that my son may or may not eat; once the price of a drink is added in (which I thought was included since the menu says "included") it rivaled the price of my small burger + water. Overall, we were pleased with our visit and plan to return. The turkey burger with chipotle sauce was fantastic, and I really liked the sweet potato chips.

Yikes. If you are a burger place that specializes in burgers, then your burger should be really good. I mean the actual patty. Bagger Dave's burger is not good. The stuff on the burger is not bad, but the actual burger in the burger joint is a frozen patty from some large food conglomerate like GFS or Sam's Club or something. PS - I was going for some kind of record on saying "burger" there. But the burger itself was very disappointing. Did I make that clear? Good.

  • David M.

There is a new kid in town over on 28th street. Bagger Dave's is a chain restaurant that delivers more in terms of ambiance then exceptional food. I am thinking this is a burger joint, so my review is predicated on that assumption. So how was the burger? Average. Maybe a little south of average if you take into account I ordered my burger medium and got it well done. Two rather overcooked patties on an unremarkable bun. While the neat little train kept circling above, I noticed that someone had taken great care regarding the way things looked, and the way the burger is wrapped so as not to drip stuff on yer sleeve, but the product itself needs much more attention. I did notice some great looking fries and some in-house chips, and my server was a very nice person...very attentive etc....but the food is lacking. Especially when the price is around 5.00 for the burger. They need to go have lunch at Smash Burger. Then rethink how they are cooking their burgers. And another thing...no Olive Burger??? Are you kidding?

I went here for my 2nd visit for lunch on a Saturday, and I couldn't believe how slow it was compared to my first visit. Well I know why!! The first time I was there it was shortly after they had open, great burger, yesterdays visit, well it was such a dry crumbly falling apart burger, with no seasoning, I had to add salt n pepper to my patties, I will not waist my time going there again. Especially when I paid 25$ for 2 burgers, fries and 1 pop! WAY overpriced!! The service was very good and friendly.

We were on our way to Wendy's (blah) on 28th Street yesterday, and as we approached the new Bagger Dave's we made a last minute decision and turned in. The parking lot seemed pretty full, but we were able to get right in. I'd say this is where our only complaint of the day comes in--the entry is WAY too small. I had to run back out to the car for something after we were seated, and there happened to be a rush of people coming in at the time--it was almost impossible to get out. Beyond that, though, it was a great experience. Our daughter loved to watch the train go around the room. She even colored the placemat (which also had a train motif); usually she gets bored with kids placemats and colors in a coloring book instead. The ordering process is easy enough--they provide cards at the table if you want to custom build a burger. The wait staff just writes down your order off the cards, but for someone like me that likes to special order things and worries if it got written down right, this is a really reassuring process. Our waitress confirmed each item we marked off as she put them on her ordering pad. I'm sure you can just skip the card and tell the wait staff what you'd like as well. The food was decent; it wasn't the best burger ever, but it was up there with some of the best. My wife just got their "sloppy fries" with all kinds of stuff on them, and she loved it. Our daughter enjoyed her hamburger, although since it just had ketchup on it it looked kind of boring. I was pleasantly shocked when we got the bill; granted, we didn't order anything all that fancy, and kids meals are half price on Sundays. But the bill (before tip) was $21--we've spent more than that going to Culvers. We didn't pull into Bagger Dave's expecting a really economical Sunday lunch, but I'm not complaining that it turned out that way! We'll definitely go back when we're on that side of town.

I was visiting a friend in GR recently and we decided to check this place out. The food was awesome! I went all out with the Train Wreck burger and while it was a little messy it was so good. Definitely go with the chipotle BBQ sauce. We also tried the Sloppy Dave's Fries. Seems a little odd, BBQ sauce on cheese fries, but it worked. Delicious! Great beer selection as well.

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant the night it opened! We must say, the atmosphere was wonderful. It was like a nicer restaurant smashed together with a cafeteria, which wasn't that bad actually! We sat at the bar, which we liked because it had a very limited selection, but good draft beers. We must protest though. Their burgers were thin and they are all cooked medium well. I was kind of sad about that. But they were decent and I got two patties. The biggest problem, and maybe I'm too picky, was that the buns turned to mush and became non existent. That is my only complaint about this nice custom burger joint.

Bagger Dave's has become steadily worse ever since I started going to it. I've only ever been to the 28th St. location so I don't know if its just this specific restaurant or its the whole chain. But I have only ever gone to Bagger Dave's because it is only a mile from my house. At first I thought it was pretty good but the quality seems to have gone down. I just ordered takeout and got a sundae and their Bleu Cheeseburger. I didn't do anything crazy, just added bacon and all the included condiments. The burger was just about the worst burger I have ever had. I would consider going to McDonalds before going back to Bagger Dave's for a burger again and I have only been there once in the past 2 years because I dislike it so much. The sundae was definitely the worst I have ever had. I don't know how it is possible to combine ice cream, chocolate sauce, peanut butter cups, and brownie and not taste good but it just happened. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because I have liked the mac and cheese in the past. And I respect the fact that they have Michigan Craft brews (maybe you have to drink a lot before most of the food tastes good). I am never going back for a burger again. I will probably go back for their Mac and Cheese sometime, hopefully it will still continue to be pretty good. But I will probably just stay away for a while.

The service here is HORRIBLE. We are talking about the type of service that takes 30 minutes for your waitress to take your drink order and another 15 to get your drinks. It was not busy at this time. Now to the food. The burgers are flavorless and expensive for what you get. We ordered nachos as a appetizer but came with the rest of the food. EVERYTHING was cold to lukewarm. Nothing tasted great. I would never go here again.

  • Deb T.

Over rated McDonalds. Very disappointed! Extremely over cooked little burger with 2 patties. No special sauce though. 3 burgers, 3 beers, 1 order of fries = $50. Very loud (echo's) and cold.

This restaurant makes a solidly good burger and fries. I was also impressed they make their own sodas. I appreciate that they had a 4 oz. and 8 oz. version of their burger in case you want a smaller patty, and they have a ton of creative sauces to add to the fries and sandwiches. You can also order your burger as a "bowl" without the bun if you're not into carbs or gluten. I ordered a "build your own" burger with fries for a casual work dinner. I got Caramel sauce with the fries just to try it, and it was just okay. Better with ketchup. I really liked my burger, with bacon and a fried egg, and it was cooked as I liked it. Overall it was a really good burger, but I still think I prefer Five Guys. I appreciate them being a Michigan-focused chain and offering a wide variety of options and craft beers.

This place was decent. I had a make your own burger (not really, I got chicken) and it was pretty good. My boyfriend had a burger and it was a bit annoying that a place that specializes in burger can't cook one to the temperature ordered. He ordered medium and it came very well done. Kind of a pet peeve of mine. The sweet potato chips were good but kinda silly that they cost $3 more. For two sandwiches and an order of chips it was more than I would have expected. We decided we probably wouldn't go back, we've had better.

Although I wanted to love it, my first experience at Bagger Dave's was pretty good, not great. I had the fancy schmancy grilled cheese, which would've been wonderful if not for the onions. I like onions--I do--but these were undercooked (crunchy, not caramelized), and the sandwich was overstuffed with them. My husband had the BBQ turkey sandwich on his first trip, and the Great American Cheeseburger on a later visit. Both were ok, he says. (He does suspect that the burger made him a little sick, but we have no way to prove this.) The fries...you can tell they're good (similar to Five Guys' fries), but ours were a touch overcooked. I had one of their orange cream craft sodas. It was delicious, but it didn't taste "special," if that makes any sense. It could've been Fanta for all I knew. Finally, my favorite part of the visit: the mac 'n' cheese! We ordered it as an app, but I ended up loving it more than my entree. Perhaps I will get it as a meal next time since it was the tastiest thing I had tried there. Bagger Dave's food is fair in taste, portion, price, and service, but I wasn't wowed. While it's not on the top of my list for places to try again, I wouldn't not go again either.

This review is based on 5 visits. The first time I went, it was for lunch and I liked the burger I built as well as the fries. I was absolutely famished at that time, however, which might have influenced how I perceived the fare... On each subsequent visit, I've noticed that the burgers are merely "ok" and the fries constantly taste as if they've been using last week's oil to cook them in. I went today with my family and we were the first customers there at 11:00 AM - - and the fries still tasted like they were cooked in rancid oil. Ugh. My kids (2 and 5 years old) liked the train that chugs around the ceiling in the dining area, but they didn't really eat much of their food, which was also telling (they tend to eat everything if they like it.) The service there has always been great, but that just doesn't carry the sub-par food. I must say a place that purports to be known for their burgers should actually have at least good if not great burgers, and these just aren't. I feel like I've given the place a decent chance and there's really no point in going back.

Come for the Burger... or the sweet potato chips... or the chili... or the beer... Oh what the heck, it's all good so come give it a try! I generally avoid all multi-location restaurants but very glad I gave Bagger a try. The food is fresh and well prepared. My experience with service and staff was personable and timely. Very good burgers and local craft beer! What could be better when you're in that mood?

I was fully intending on getting Stella's after the Griffins hockey game Friday night, but we walked through and couldn't find a table, so we settled for Bagger Dave's as a backup plan. It wasn't as good as Stella's turned out to be Saturday afternoon, but it was still above decent in my book. Our waitress was really friendly and although I don't normally like random off-brands of soda, their root beer was incredible. The atmosphere was nice (although the fact that you could gamble while you ate was a little weird to me) and the burger was pretty tasty for a fast-casual place.

We arrived here very hungry, in the torrential rain, and 15 minutes before closing time (after a 7 hour drive from Ohio, we were just getting to our motel and this was our last opportunity to eat - anywhere - at that time on a Sunday). I would have understood if they had turned us away, since the entire place was empty except for one man at the bar, and I'm sure the kitchen was just about shut down. The waitress seated us by the bar and served us with a smile. Even though it was half and hour past closing by the time we left, we never felt rushed. Our food was delicious; my burger was cooked exactly the way I ordered it.

The level of service at this place leaves much to be desired. A long wait both to be seated and at the table despite at least a dozen open tables is inexcusable. Total wait time from door to waitress' first appearance at our table was over 20 minutes. The staff is at least polite and the food isn't bad, but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

If you like food in your hair, get in line for this place!! I had a piece of black hair nearly make it all the way into my stomach....while still hanging out of my mouth. Yes, it was THAT LONG!! I can't say that I've ever been so disgusted in my life. And to make matters worse, you can watch the cooks preparing your food....even after swallowing a 2 foot long piece of hair, the girl who was the rightful owner of the hair, continued to cook with her flowing locks of black hair freely blowing in the fans above the kitchen....the manager felt SO bad that he took my French fries off the bill....nothing else. I still left $40 poorer, disgusted, and with an empty stomach. I will not be returning.

Here are the basics about Bagger Dave's: they are a casual eating, gourmet hamburger place with local craft beers on tap. They are famous for their thick cut, skins on, fries and dipping sauces. They offer other standard lunch options - salads, chili, soups, and mac and cheese. The atmosphere is train themed with vintage pictures of trains and a real working train that runs along the top of the dining area. Now the real question: Is the food good? Yeah, it's ok. Is the food worth the price...meh; I'm inclined to say no. I'm not a penny pincher when it comes to food, but I had a hard time justifying the price for my burger and fries lunch meal; nothing about it jumped out at me as being so special that I'd be willing to pay a little more for it. I feel like I can pack more taste into a smaller price tag when it comes to lunches in the area. That being said, if you are a burger person, you may find it to be perfectly worth it. The dining room is clean and tidy. The staff was friendly although I thought they could've had more servers as ours was a little slow trying to handle several tables at lunch. They don't advertise themselves as being healthy and true to that, my black bean burger was heaped with cheese and the creamy Siracha dipping sauce for my potato chip-like sweet potato files, was tasty and rich. Will I be back? If I find myself with a group and I lose the coin toss as to where to go for lunch, then yes, I may have to come back. Until then, I'll probably keep scoping out the area for something a little more memorable.

I had a bacon bbq burger with their fresh cut fries. Was very good. Wanted it well done and it came out a little pink so I asked it get it cooked a little bit longer and they got right on it. At first I thought it was pricey as you have to buy the fries separate but it definitely tastes worth it. First time in Grand Rapids.

I really wanted to love this place... I went here when they first opened and thought I was in love... I was wrong. Having been out of state a couple of years I had forgotten all about this place and what it was like. I was in town and needed a fun place to eat with a friend. We both love a good burger, and love the idea of building our own. First off, we were seated right away, the place was almost empty. We sat there several minutes when a manager strolled by and asked us about our drinks. A few minutes later we finally see our server with our drinks. It was time to get down to business and create our burgers! I had it all figured out, tallied it up and realized my dream burger (just the burger, fries cost extra) was going to cost me twelve bucks. I was so sad. I had to take off a few topping to stay inside my budget. Our not very pleasant server took our orders, and I opted for Sweet Potato Chips instead of fries. Our order comes out, the burgers were, okay. I was still a little sad. My chips were a tad burnt. Would I go back? Maybe. At least I know what to expect. They do have plenty of free toppings, and it is possible to make a decent burger for about $9-$10.

There is not an option to do a zero star but if there was I would give it. It's Saturday February 14 at 1pm and there's a 40 top in the bar area. Kids hockey team with parents is here and I'm sitting at the bar with my wife and I'm listening to the worst language ever from the staff because they can not manage a big group. This place is empty apart from us and the hockey team. The dining area was empty and another hockey team came in and I had to sit at the bar and listen to all the bitching (sorry) about another big group. This place is in a hotel district with Patterson ice arena a block away and should be willing and able to keep up with large groups. The potential 30 top walked out (I would have too). ADVICE... IF YOUR A LARGE GROUP AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I played hockey as a kid and past college and eating with my teammates was and is one of of my better memories.

Just finished lunch here with my husband. I don't understand all of the so-so reviews on Yelp! We were pleasantly surprised with our burgers and fries. Great atmosphere, lots of options for burgers, and plenty of craft beers to choose from. Their root beer was also delicious! We will definitely be back.
